“Caper has a knack for spotting brilliant young creatives who deserve global attention” - Creative Boom

Frequently asked questions (for clients)

  • An agent takes charge of all the behind-the-scenes work—scheduling, handling contracts, setting prices, and managing invoices—so that illustrators can focus purely on their art. This arrangement not only helps illustrators operate more smoothly but also ensures you, the client, receive the highest quality of work possible.

While some illustrators thrive on direct interaction with clients, others prefer minimal direct communication, benefiting from the agent's support in everyday dealings. This flexibility allows each illustrator to work in the way that suits them best, ensuring that your project benefits from their full creative attention.

  • All of our artists bring a wealth of experience to the table, having worked on both editorial and commercial projects. They each boast unique personal styles, outstanding craftsmanship, and are highly efficient.

From the moment you reach out to us until your project's deadline, we're right there with you, making sure everything goes off without a hitch. Our team handles all the production and artist management details, so you can concentrate on collaborating to create something truly frutful.

  • Whether you already have a specific vision or you're looking for inspiration, just drop us an email. Include the artist's name you're interested in, some reference images of styles you like, or simply jot down a few lines about your project. We'll either confirm the artist's availability for you or offer some alternative options to ponder.

Got a project brief? Great, send it our way, and we'll match you up with a selection of illustrators suited for the task. If you haven't got a brief yet, don't worry about it—we'll ask a few questions to figure out exactly what you're looking for.

  • The cost of illustrations is influenced by several key factors:

    • The selected artist

    • The complexity of the requested illustration

    • The intended use of the work (licensing requirements)

    • The turnaround time for completion

Providing us with a detailed brief will enable us to give you an accurate quote reflecting these considerations.

  • Once we chat about your brief, the artist will start off with some rough sketches. This way, you can get a peek at what they're thinking and how they plan to bring your idea to life. Sketch styles can really vary. Some artists might hand you a bunch of quick pencil drawings, while others might go straight to digital to outline their thoughts. Some sketches might look pretty basic, others a bit more finished.

This is your golden opportunity to chime in and ask for tweaks if you see fit. Making changes is a breeze at this sketchy stage. But once things get more detailed, tweaking stuff can turn into a bit of a time sink. So, we really encourage you to take a good look and speak up about any changes you'd want right then and there.

Following the sketch phase, you'll usually receive a colored version of the work, offering a clearer view of what the final illustration will resemble. You'll have another opportunity to provide feedback at this stage.

The last thing you'll get is the final illustration. There might be a few small adjustments needed, but if you've been giving us your thoughts all along, we should be pretty much spot on by this time.

“Caper Illustration is the bridge between Asian artists and the Western market” - It’s Nice That

  • Not all illustrators need or want an agent, especially considering the cost. An agent's job is to find you work and manage your projects, taking a cut of your earnings as payment. If the idea of sharing your income doesn't sit well with you, an agent might not make you happy. The best partnerships between artists and agents work like a team — remember, your agent only profits when you do.

Agents can negotiate better deals, introduce you to new clients, and being on an agency's website can open up more opportunities for you.

Clients often prefer working with agencies because they trust the selection of artists and it saves them time searching for the right fit.

Not every agency will suit every artist. You might work with a few before finding the right one. If you try it and decide an agent isn't for you, that's okay — at least you'll know.

  • Feel free to find our submission email in the contact page. We want to see at lease 10 finished works, they can be either illustrations, animations, paper arts, or motion graphics.

Please do not submit any processes or sketching, we prefer to focus on the final output.
